For over 38 years, the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) has been working for the rights and the well-being of children and families in the Middle East. Dedicated to providing aid and opportunities for Palestinian youth and families, MECA has had longstanding projects on the ground in the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon for decades.

Since October 2023, our work at MECA has adapted to primarily emergency response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. We have a team of fifteen staff members along with partner grassroots organizations and volunteers on the ground in Gaza who make all of this work possible. 

In Gaza, we have four solar-powered community kitchens currently distributing 20,000 hot meals a day to families. Additionally, we are distributing food parcels, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, and winter relief, collecting garbage, running a malnutrition clinic, organizing psychosocial activities for children, and funding a school for 240 students. 

In the West Bank, we have our scholarship program that funds tuition for students at local universities. We also have summer camps and playground building projects that aim to provide a sense of a "normal" childhood to children living under violent Israeli occupation. We distribute food parcels, hygiene kits, and school supplies for communities as well.

Additionally, we have work in Lebanon that primarily supports the education of Palestinian and Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. With the ongoing war in the region, we respond to the needs on the ground and distribute food parcels, blankets, and warm clothes to displaced families.
